The International Department is based in Maynooth , Ireland and a number of overseas locations. It is comprised of 6 geographical regions, (South East Asia; Middle East, Central & South Asia; Latin America; Central & West Africa; East & Horn Africa; Southern Africa) a co-financing unit, a PCM unit and an emergency response unit. There are several cross-organisationa l teams that are inextricably linked to the International Department, following the 6 themes of our strategic plan – governance and human rights, building sustainable livelihood's, preparing for and responding to emergencies, HIV and gender.

Trócaire first placed staff in the South East Asia Region in 2005 to manage Trócaire’s response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami as well as programmes in Timor-Leste. Trócaire began funding partners in Timor-Leste in 2000. In 2006 Trócaire began a process of focusing its work in 25 priority countries and placing more staff overseas. Timor-Leste has been identified as a priority country and staff were first placed in-country in July 2007.

As Programme Officer you will develop and implement Trócaire’s programming in Timor-Leste, focusing particularly on issues of livelihoods. A major part of the Programme Officer’s role will also be providing support and assistance to funded partners. Coordination, networking and advocacy will also be important aspects of this position.

As Programme Officer you will report to the Country Representative in Timor Leste. You will be based in Dili, Timor Leste with regular travel throughout the country and occasional travel outside the country.

This post is offered on a two year fixed term contract basis on the Overseas Programme Officer Salary Scale
